A very dangerous phenomenon, that is being widely discussed lately, is traffic accidents caused by inexperienced young drivers. Driving a car is an action that requires a lot of maturity and independence. It appears that by the age of seventeen, youngsters do not necessarily grow up to possess those qualities. As a solution, it has been proposed that the minimal age of getting a driver's license should be raised to nineteen, and I believe that it is a wise suggestion.
Most seventeen year old teenagers are neither independent nor responsible enough to have a driver’s license. They lack the responsibility that is required to be in charge of a vehicle and of the lives of others. This lack of responsibility is usually dealt with when teenagers leave their home to start their own independent life(gr. - lives), which is around the age of nineteen. Beforehand, when teenagers still go to school, and depend on their parents and families, they lack the independency(ww.) that is required to be a good, responsible driver.
Moreover, there is a great difference between the ages of seventeen and nineteen in terms of maturity and seriousness, especially here in Israel. The experiences youngsters go through and the responsibility they are faced with in the army is known to have a very deep influence on their maturity, making them much more suitable to become drivers.
To conclude, it seems as though by the age of nineteen, teenagers are much more prepared for the responsibility of driving a car, thanks to their separation from their dependency on their parents and to the maturation process they go through in the army. Therefore, I believe that the suggestion is a very good way to clear our roads from unprepared drivers.
Excellent work, as usual.
